Friday night found 4-H members “Cruisin’ to the Malt Shop” to take part in the 2009 Logan County Fair 4-H Fashion Revue. Participants had completed the judging portion of the contest earlier in the day.
Narrating the revue was Heather Diaz as she presented those in Junior, Intermediate, Senior and Encore Divisions. The stage was set with a giant soda made of pink and white balloons with a red cherry on top.
The Encore Division was judged on the suitability of the clothing to the person, appropriateness for the occasion, and fit. Lauren Hoal was named Reserve Champion with her strapless maroon dress picked for a formal event. Rebecca Northup received first place with a canary yellow prom dress featuring a to-the-knee Senior contestants and sisters, Andrea Northup, Champion and Rebecca Northup, Reserve Champion also qualify to attend the Colorado State Fair competition later this month. In the Junior Division, Rachel Northup was named Reserve Champion with blue and brown skirt with a blue blouse to complement the casual outfit. First Place went to Cassidy Paxton with a casual, sporty outfit with a black and white skirt. Both girls are in Beginning Clothing, Unit 1.
In the Junior Decorate Your Duds division, Ashley Clark was named Reserve Champion and Morgan Duncan received the first place ribbon.
In the Intermediate Division, Emily Bournia was named Reserve Champion with Bermuda shorts and a fuschia tunic she had dyed in the sun. Champion was Rylie Lewis with a black warm-up suit.
The two top senior members who qualified to compete at the Colorado State Fair were Reserve Champion Rebecca Northup and Champion Andrea Northup.
Also modeling during the evening were the Miss Rodeo Logan County Royalty and the 2010 MRLC contestants including Hanna McKay, 2009 Miss Rodeo Logan County; Kaitlyn Schneider, 2009 Miss Rodeo Logan County Attendant; 2009 Miss Rodeo Logan County Sweetheart contestant Kaylee Harris; and 2010 MRLC contestants Paige Locke, Julia Cucarola and Anna Gentry.
The senior, intermediate and junior champions received a bouquet of flowers sponsored by Wal-Mart Supercenter No. 924, Cattleya Floral and Moore Flowers.
The junior champion received a trophy sponsored by Barnes Pharmacy; intermediate champion received a trophy sponsored by Jack and Jan Nixon; senior champion trophy was sponsored by New Method Cleaners. Each champion also received a $15 gift certificate sponsored by Quilts-N-Creations.
The reserve champions received a $10 gift sponsored by Quilts-N-Creations. The encore champion received a balloon bouquet sponsored by Colorado Popcorn Company.
Other 4-H members taking part in the revue were Alexia Hernandez, Anakin Scott, Nicole Hrbek, Emily Lovell, Whitney Kipp, Genysie van Duren and Malia Michel.
Directors of the Fashion Revue are Linda Dettmer and Sarah Keil. Assisting backstage was Dottie Benson and judges were Lorrie Bolton and Michelle Sterkel.
