Gubernatorial nominee Dan Maes today tapped former lawmaker and early supporter Tambor Williams to fill out the Republican ticket.
Maes touted Williams' legislative and state administrative history and cast her as a person who supports Tea Party values.
"She brings the political experience to the table that I lack," Maes said.
Maes said he has come to know Williams and her husband over the past 16 months as they helped with his campaign in Weld County.
Today was the deadline for Maes to announce his lieutenant governor pick.
Williams, who lives in Greeley, served in the statehouse from 1997 until 2004, when she was appointed by Gov. Bill Owens as director of the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
American Constitution Party candidate Tom Tancredo announced he will keep Doug Campbell as his running mate. Campbell was chosen by the party members at their state convention to be the running mate of the previous American Constitution candidate.

Fort Morgan's Board of Education has a new member.
David Kauffman received four votes out of six in a show-of-hands vote to edge the other candidate, Vickie Lapp, then was unanimously elected in a formal vote.
Board members interviewed both candidates at a work session Monday before making the appointment. Matt Laws, board member, cautioned both candidates that having a personal agenda would not work with this board.
Both professed to have no such agendas and were candidates because they wanted to help students.

RE-1 Valley Board of Education held a workshop with staff members on Monday evening to discuss negotiations.
The board and staff members reviewed the policies for negotiations to put policies together for section H of the District Policy Manual, regarding the negotiations process. There are no policies in that section right now.
Policies discussed were those related to negotiation goals, negotiations in legal status, scope of negotiations and the negotiation procedure.
In discussing this policy, they discussed when negotiations should be completed each year. They agreed they should be completed by May 31, with a push to get them done earlier if possible.
