A Sterling man was among nine individuals were arrested late Thursday, eight on drug-related charges and one on a robbery charge, following a joint operation between the ATF and the Greeley Police Department.

Aurelio Saucedo Jr. , 49, of Sterling, was arrested in the sting on charges of unlawful distribution of a schedule 2 controlled substance.

Paula J. Abbott, of Fleming, Colo., has been named the Western Nebraska Community College director for the Sidney campus and will take over the position on Sept. 27.

Abbott has been employed by Morgan Community College in Wray, since 2005, where she has had held several positions including interim dean of student services, director of guidance and placement/ADA coordinator and adjunct business faculty.

Pat "Deep Dish" Bertoletti managed to swallow 3 pounds, 11.75 ounces of Rocky Mountain oysters in 10 minutes, setting a world record for that delicacy Saturday in Black Hawk.

Tim "Eater X" Janus of New York City was a very close second, eating 3 pounds, 11.25 ounces in 10 minutes.

A field of 15 competitive eaters, including professionals and amateurs, participated in the contest, held at Lady Luck Casino in Black Hawk.
