2010 Election Alerts:
August 10, 2010 Primary Election will be held as an all mail ballot election for Logan County Voters. Ballots for all eligible registered voters will be mailed July 19 – July 23, 2010 there will be no polling places open Primary Election Day. All voted ballots; replacement ballots or affiliation declarations must be returned to the Logan County Clerk and Recorder’s Office 315 Main St. Suite 3, Sterling, CO 80751.
REMINDER: In order to vote in the August 10, 2010 Primary Election you must affiliate with a political party Democratic or Republican. July 12, 2010 is the last day to change affiliations from one party to another and the last day to affiliate with a party.
Unaffiliated voters that would like to vote in a Primary Election and have not decided by the July 12, 2010 date for which party they would like to vote for will need to complete the proper form to obtain that parties primary ballot, from the Clerk and Recorder’s Office through Primary Election day August 10, 2010 by 7:00 p.m.
If you are turning 18 in 2010 and would like to vote you must register prior to the Primary Election and General Election deadlines.
MAIL-IN (aka Absentee Ballots): Would you like to be placed on a permanent mail-in (aka absentee) ballot list or just receive your ballot in the mail for the November 2, 2010 General Election? If your answer is yes, just come into our office, or contact us. A mail-in form can be mailed for you to fill out allowing you to be placed on the permanent mail-in list or the mail-in for the November 2, 2010 General Election only. You can also go to www.loganco.gov and download a mail-in ballot form.
IMPORTANT DATES FOR 2010 ELECTIONS:
Political Party County Assemblies: Will be held between March 26 – April 15, 2010 (not less than 10 nor more than 30 days after the March 16, 2010 Precinct Caucus). Delegates that were selected at the precinct caucus on March 16, 2010 will vote to select candidates to be on that party’s ballot or the order in which the candidates will appear on that party’s ballot for the Primary Election.

Unaffiliated Voter Election Judge: April 27, 2010 is the last day an unaffiliated voter may give notice in writing to the County Clerk that he/she wishes to serve as an election judge.
Major/Minor Party Petitions: March 29, 2010 is the earliest day to circulate a petition to be placed on the August 10, 2010 Primary Election ballot. May 27, 2010 is the last day to file a major/minor party petition. (Petition format needs to be approved by the county clerk and recorder prior to circulation.)
Unaffiliated Candidate Petitions: April 30, 2010 is the earliest day to circulate a petition to be placed on the November 2, 2010 General Election Ballot. June 15, 2010 is the last day to file an unaffiliated candidate nomination petition – no later than 3:00 P.M. (Petition format needs to be approved by the County Clerk and Recorder prior to circulation.)
*Last day to register to vote and change affiliation with a party for the Primary Election: July 12, 2010, If you want to change your affiliation to another party to support a candidate in the Primary or if you are not registered to vote at all and want to vote in the Primary this is the deadline.
Primary Election ballots will be mailed July 19-July 23, 2010 to all eligible electors affiliated with a major political party. (Democratic or Republican)
Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the Primary Election if mailed: August 3, 2010. (If you are going to be at a different mailing address from July 19-July 23, 2010 than we have on file during the Primary Election Cycle.)
Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the Primary Election if the ballot is picked up in person by the voter: August 6, 2010
*Logan County Clerk and Recorder’s Office Election Department will be open on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for ballot drop off, replacement ballots, unaffiliated electors to declare party affiliation and obtain a ballot.
*Primary Election Day: August 10, 2010 (Logan County Clerk and Recorder’s Office is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. no other polling places are available.)
*Last day to register to vote for the General Election: October 4, 2010, if you are not registered to vote and wish to vote in the General Election or if you have changed your address, it is easier for you to make your changes by this deadline with our office.
*Early Voting for the General Election: October 18 – October 29, 2010 early voting will be held at the Logan County Clerk and Recorder’s Office, 315 Main Street, Suite 3, Sterling, Colorado in the old courthouse on Main Street from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Any eligible voter with identification can come and vote early.
Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the General Election if mailed: October 26, 2010 (If you are going to be at a different mailing address than we have on file for you during the General Election Cycle.)
Last day to apply for a mail-in ballot for the General Election if picked up by the voter: October 29, 2010
*General Election Day: November 2, 2010, all eligible registered voters can vote in a General Election. (Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
Colorado County Clerk and Recorder’s Association
Logan County will host the annual Summer Conference for the Colorado County Clerk’s Association to be held June 7-10, 2010 in Sterling. Logan County Clerk and Recorder, Pamela Schneider and her staff will be hosting 64 Colorado County Clerks, their employees, Department of Revenue staff, Colorado Secretary of State staff, honored guest speakers and vendors totaling approximately 200 people plus family members.

Effective April 1, 2010 you may register to vote, update, or check your voter information on line at www.govotecolorado.com . You must have a valid Colorado Drivers License or Colorado Identification Card. The name you enter must match your Divers License or Identification Card and you must enter your date of birth to obtain access to the module.
It is very important to have your most current information on your voter record including your correct physical address so you are voting in the proper precinct and on the correct issues for your address. If you are unsure if you are registered as a Permanent Mail-in Voter you may also look this information up on the above link.
