The Sterling Wal-Mart store spent several months re-modeling ...now they are celebrating !
The grand re-opening celebration begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8 o'clock this morning. Brett Webster-Store Manager says the newly remodeled store was designed with the shopper in mind. Webster says larger isles with low profile shelving helps to make the store open and inviting.
Store associates assisted Mayor Dan Jones and the Logan County Chamber of Commerce with the ribbon cutting ceremony. Pastor Sean Cole opened with the convocation and local Boy Scout Troop No. 15 presented the colors. The Salt & Pepper Quartet led in singing the National Anthem.
The Wal-Mart Foundation presented grants to several local service organizations. Peggy Swedlund-Wal-Mart Associate says grants totaling over 7 thousand dollars were awarded as a part of the celebration. Service groups receiving grant money were: Sterling High School; Meals on Wheels; Friends of the Library; Phillips County Historical; Relay for Life; Alzeheimiers; Read to Your Baby Program and Hospice of the Plains.
