Scotty McKnight became Colorado’s career receptions leader with a 27-yard touchdown grab that sparked the Buffaloes to a 24-3 season-opening win over archrival Colorado State in the annual Rocky Mountain Showdown on Saturday.

The Colorado Rockies are firmly back in the playoff race thanks to a weekend sweep of the San Diego Padres.  They now sit just 5 1/2 games out of the wild card spot and 4 1/2 out of the NL West lead thanks to a great weekend.

Carlos Gonzales' 3-hit day set the table perfectly for Troy Tulowitzki and Melvin Mora, who each had 2 RBIs, as the Rockies finished the Padres off 6-2 yesterday.
