Here’s the 411 on the rules…
Get it? Good. Now take a look at this week’s crop of nominees and vote in the poll on the sidebar for the one you would like chosen as “King of the Week” presented by Ertle Brothers Discount Auto:
Derek Lynch (Brush) - Upsetting a Top 10 team is great. But doing so with a grand slam is King-worthy. Derek did just that in the 12-5 victory over then-#9 Yuma last Thursday. With his team up, he put the game out of reach launching a bomb with the bases loaded.
Kegan Carwin (Peetz) - The Bulldogs split the Battle of the Bulldogs in Otis on Wednesday. They won Game 1 7-3 thanks to the pitching of Kegan. He threw 109 pitches going the full 7 innings, gave up just 5 hits and 1 walk, 2 earned runs, and struck out 12.
Pete Lambrecht (Caliche) - In a 12-2 win over Peetz on Friday, Pete hit what ended up being the game-winning 2 RBI triple in his first at bat, finished the day 2-4 with 2 RBI and 2 R, and capped off the final two innings on the mound without giving up serious damage.
Phillip Foy (Otis) - After going 0-3 with 2 Ks in the first game against Peetz last Wednesday, things didn't look that great for the Otis Bulldogs or Phillip Foy. But Foy responded, along with his teammates, to take Game 2 22-14. Phillip went 3-5 with 3 RBIs, a triple, two doubles, two stolen bases and scored 5 runs in the win.
Tyler Vandenbark (Fleming) - Getting one two-homer game a season is great. Getting two in one week is what Tyler did. Tyler finished the 4-game week against Dayspring Christian and Otis 8-for-12 with 4 HR, 13 RBI, 9 R and 6 SB. He also threw the second game against Otis on Friday and struck out 9 in no-hitting Otis through 3 innings of work.
Zach Barcelona (Wray) - Wray split the weekend doubleheader with Haxtun but there was no split about Barcelona's plate performance as he was outstanding in both. Zach went 5-for-8 with 2 HR, 7 RBIs, and 3 R in the doubleheader keeping Wray in the mix for a top spot in the 2A side of the Lower Platte League.
Your votes provided the closest vote in King of the Week history! Congratulations to Tyler Vandenbark who was named this week's King of the Week by 1 vote!
