ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Every Saturday Morning at 8am, "Guru" Ben Blecha and South Platte Sentinel Sports Editor Ken McDowell take over the airwaves for two hours of sports talk!

It's the only show of it's kind in the area, where the focus is on the area athlete and what they're doing!

Colorado Corner kicks the show off each and every Saturday. Ben Blecha visits with area 4-year colleges and their coaches and athletes about what's going on and what success is for the taking. On the January 15 edition, Ben was joined by UNC Bear Women's Basketball. The team has battled injuries all season long:

Also on UNC Women's Basketball are two area athletes.  Ben spoke with both Holyoke's Victoria Timm and Caliche/NJC's Amy Marin about their transition to 4-year college basketball and their roles on this year's team:

Faces of Pete is the second part of the program...a 30-minute look at the athletics at Northeastern Junior College. On the January 15 edition, Ben and Ken were joined by Darrel Parker, Lynnae Cox and Nichole Burns from NJC Women's Basketball to talk about the season.  They were also surprised by Coach Parker's daughter, Sarah, to celebrate the 200th edition with a look back at Coach Parker's Sterling High School State Championship team in 2005:

At 9am, the Injury Axcess Show presented by the Training Room at Total Axcess makes an appearance. Each week injuries are discussed, how to prevent them, rehab from them, and general health surrounding each injury. On the January 15 edition, Marla Tappy joined Ben to talk about that always popular New Year's Resolution "I'm going to eat right":

Locker Talk has been going for 7 years now and has been full of guests in the area prep sports scene. No one else in the area talks to the athletes and the coaches at the same time. Ben and Ken do and often bring you entertaining insights not found anywhere else. On the January 15 edition, Ben and Ken discussed the first 200 episodes, favorite memories, and what the future holds.  They were also joined by the very first guests on the program, Shane Gertner and Jeff Squier, to reminisce the last 200 shows:
