ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Every Saturday Morning at 8am, "Guru" Ben Blecha and South Platte Sentinel Sports Editor Ken McDowell take over the airwaves for two hours of sports talk!

It's the only show of it's kind in the area, where the focus is on the area athlete and what they're doing!

Colorado Corner kicks the show off each and every Saturday.  Ben Blecha visits with area 4-year colleges and their coaches and athletes about what's going on and what success is for the taking.  On the January 8 edition, Ben was joined by BJ Hill from UNC Bear Men's Basketball.  Off to a .500 start, there good and bad so far this season.  All was discussed:

After the program aired, Ben was also joined by Ben Cherrington, UNC's wrestling coach.  Ben discussed his team's successes this year, the previous weekend's tournament and previewed the upcoming schedule:

Faces of Pete is the second part of the program...a 30-minute look at the athletics at Northeastern Junior College.  On the January 8 edition, Ben and Ken were joined by Brock Baseggio, the new softball coach at NJC.  With the program slated to begin competition in Fall 2011, new athletes are beginning to pop up on campus.  The challenges of building a program were discussed with so much more:

Ben and Ken also discussed the upcoming basketball slate.  Both the Plainsmen and Plainswomen have started off the season better than expected.  With an 8-game homestand on tap, it's going to be an interesting January:

At 9am, the Injury Axcess Show presented by the Training Room at Total Axcess makes an appearance.  Each week injuries are discussed, how to prevent them, rehab from them, and general health surrounding each injury.  On the January 8 edition, Nate Kelley from NJC joined Ben to talk about that always popular New Year's Resolution "I'm going to get in shape":

Locker Talk has been going for 7 years now and has been full of guests in the area prep sports scene.  No one else in the area talks to the athletes and the coaches at the same time.  Ben and Ken do and often bring you entertaining insights not found anywhere else.  On the January 8 edition, brothers coaching against one another joined the show for the very first time.  Bill Fiscus (Peetz) and Clint Fiscus (Merino) brought some star players on the morning of the first-even matchup between the two brothers:
