Lower Platte - After the Friday night's results say Wray top Sedgwick County and Akron blow past Merino, the 2A District II Tournament order is set.  Wray win the league title with a victory and is the #1, Holyoke the #2, Wiggins the #3, Sedgwick County the #4, Akron is the #5 and Merino the #6.

As for the 1A teams in this league, Caliche and Haxtun met on Friday for pride going into the 1A District IV Tournament.  Caliche goes in as the 3-seed and Haxtun the 5-seed (see below North Central League for their pairings).

2A District II First Round Matchups (February 23, higher seed):

  • Wray vs. Merino
  • Sedgwick County vs. Frontier Academy/Union Colony Prep
  • Holyoke vs. Union Colony Prep/Frontier Academy
  • Wiggins vs. Akron

Coverage of the 2A District II Tournament will begin with the semifinals at NJC on February 25 and conclude with the 3rd place and championship games on February 26. Coverage will be on 104.7 King FM and KNEC 100.9 depending on the teams involved in the matchup.

North Central - League play concluded with Fleming defeating Prairie on Thursday at NJC.  The final standing were Peetz (8-2), Fleming (6-4), Weldon Valley (5-5), Prairie (4-6, won coin flip), Briggsdale (4-6), Pawnee 3-7.  Therefore, the 1A District IV Tournament, beginning Monday at 4pm on the campus at NJC, is as follows:

  • 4:00pm - Peetz vs. Pawnee
  • 5:30pm - Weldon Valley vs. Haxtun
  • 7:00pm - Fleming vs. Briggsdale
  • 8:30pm - Caliche vs. Prairie

Coverage of the 1A District IV Tournament will begin with the quarterfinals at NJC on February 22, continue with the semifinals on February 24, and conclude with the 3rd place and championship games on February 27. Coverage will be on 104.7 King FM.

YWKC - Things are still up in the air after Friday's action.  Hi-Plains lost to Otis and Idalia beat Woodlin leaving Hi-Plains and Idalia with the exact same conference and overall records, with their head-to-head meeting split.  To top it off, I'm completely unsure of the lower end of the YWKC due to lack of reported results.  When we have a bracket, we'll post it.

1A District V Possible First Round Matchups (February 25, higher seed):

  • Otis vs. Liberty/Lone Star
  • Woodlin vs. Bethune/Arickaree
  • Idalia/Hi-Plains vs. Arickaree/Bethune
  • Hi-Plains/Idalia vs. Lone Star/Liberty

Lower Platte - I'm still missing the Merino vs. Akron result from Friday that determines the LPAA winner and the overall #1 in 2A's District II.  Thanks to Sedgwick County defeating Wray, we do know the #3 is Sedgwick County, the #4 Holyoke, the #5 Wray and the #6 Wiggins.  As soon as we have the top two figured out, we'll post it.

As for the 1A teams in this league, Caliche and Haxtun met on Friday for the right to be the #3 seed and the #5 seed in the 1A District IV Tournament.  In spite of the fact Haxtun topped Caliche making the teams both 1-6 in the LPAA with a split 1-1 record, Caliche topped Haxtun by more points in their head-to-head matchups and therefore won the 3-seed (see below North Central League for their pairings).

2A District II Possible First Round Matchups (February 23, higher seed):

  • Merino/Akron vs. Wiggins
  • Holyoke vs. Frontier Academy/Union Colony Prep
  • Merino/Akron vs. Union Colony Prep/Frontier Academy
  • Sedgwick County vs. Wray

Coverage of the 2A District II Tournament will begin with the semifinals at NJC on February 25 and conclude with the 3rd place and championship games on February 26. Coverage will be on 104.7 King FM and KNEC 100.9 depending on the teams involved in the matchup.

North Central - League play concluded on Thursday with Fleming defeating Prairie at NJC.  The final standings were Pawnee (9-1), Fleming (8-2), Briggsdale (7-3), Weldon Valley (3-7), Prairie (2-8) and Peetz (1-9).  1A District IV First Round Matchups (February 23, NJC) are as follows:

  • 4:00pm - Pawnee vs. Peetz
  • 5:30pm - Briggsdale vs. Haxtun
  • 7:00pm - Fleming vs. Prairie
  • 8:30pm - Caliche vs. Weldon Valley

Coverage of the 1A District IV Tournament will begin with the quarterfinals at NJC on February 23, continue with the semifinals on February 24, and conclude with the 3rd place and championship games on February 27. Coverage will be on 104.7 King FM.

YWKC - Thanks to Otis' loss at Idalia on Saturday, the Hi-Plains Patriots are guaranteed the regular season crown and the top seed. Otis' path is clearer now, however, as they know they can't fall lower than second. The 3-4 tangle saw Idalia top Woodlin on Friday to garner the 3-seed while Woodlin fell to the 4. Behind that, things are a mess, however, thanks to a lack of reporting to statewide media. Liberty looks to have the 5-seed locked up with Bethune, Arickaree and Lone Star fighting for the final three spots.

1A District V Possible First Round Matchups (February 23, higher seed):

  • Hi-Plains vs. Lone Star/Arickaree/Bethune
  • Woodlin vs. Liberty
  • Idalia vs. Bethune/Arickaree/Lone Star
  • Otis vs. Arickaree/Lone Star/Bethune
