ABOUT THE AUTHOR

After many matches, several area wrestlers took home medals from the 2010 State Wrestling Tournaments.  Click here to recap all the brackets from the 2010 State Wrestling Tournaments and find out where your favorite wrestlers finished.  Here are the six wrestlers who finished the season as state champs:

Mark Edmonds (Holyoke) won the Class 2A 112-pound title with a 9-3 decision.  It was the only time Mark failed to pin his opponent as he notched three pinfall victories in the first three round leading up to the title bout.

Buddy Watson (Wiggins) won the Class 2A 130-pound title with a 10-6 decision.  That win allowed Buddy to finish off a dominant season for the Tigers as he had a 45-1 tally, the most wins by any area wrestler this season.

Chad Stroh (Holyoke) won his second straight state title as he took the Class 2A 135-pound crown with a pinfall in just 97 seconds.  The win allowed Stroh to also finish with just one loss--his tally was 35-1 for the season.

Layne Crumley (Akron) won his state championship at the Class 2A 145-pound class with a 4-2 decision.  Layne had two major decisions and a pinfall leading up to that bout and finished the year 40-1.

Kohl Knutson (Wiggins) also won a second straight state title in 2010.  Kohl finished off the field in Class 2A's 171-pound division with a pinfall victory in 3:15.

Tyler Davis (Wiggins) won the state championship at the Class 2A 189-pound class with a 12-2 major decision.  The win allowed him to cap a 39-1 year with a state championship.

Congratulations to all our area wrestlers who competed and medalled at state!
